Shaniqwa Jarvis is an artist celebrated for blending modern photographic sensibilities with emotionally resonant portraiture. Her practice often extends beyond photography into textiles, painting, and collage, creating layered works that feel like extensions of herself—conveying raw emotion, vulnerability, and a shimmering optimism.

She has exhibited internationally in London, Tokyo, Los Angeles, and New York, with recent exhibitions including If You Could See My Thoughts, You Would See Your Faces at Anthony Gallery in Chicago, as well as Sleep to Dream and Everywhere You Go, There You Are. Her self-titled debut book chronicles two decades of her evolving archive.

Jarvis has photographed cultural figures and collaborated with brands to bring her artwork into new spaces, expanding the reach of her practice across art, fashion, and contemporary culture. Her work is also part of the permanent collections at LACMA, MOCA, and The Hammer Museum via the joint MAC3 fund.
